Everest Three Passes Trek Reviews: Amit Sharma – New‑Delhi, India

I’ve done the classic EBC trail three times, but the three‑passes route felt like a whole new world. The first day to Renjo La was a shock‑test for my legs—steep climbs on loose scree, a biting wind that seemed to come from nowhere. When we finally crested Renjo La, the panorama of the Lhotse‑Lhotse West wall unfolded in front of me and I could hear my heart pounding louder than the wind.

The real magic was the cultural exchange in the Sherpa villages of Thukla and Pangboche. I sat with a family over a steaming bowl of thukpa and learned the story of the “Mongolia” prayer flags that flutter over the monastery. The high‑altitude day at Kongma La (the highest of the three) tested my oxygen levels, but the view of Ama Dablam reflected in the glacier lake made every breath worth it.

Tip: Arrive a day early to acclimatise at Namche Bazaar—the altitude gain from 3,440 m to 5,500 m in three days is steep, even for seasoned trekkers.
