What to Expect on the Gosaikunda Heli Tour

Gosaikunda Heli Tour
Heli Tour

Gosaikunda is one of the best destinations to visit, located close to Kathmandu. Let’s see what makes this tour more fascinating.

Early Morning Departure:

Gosaikunda Helicopter often operates early in the morning, around 6:30 to 7:30. ThisThis is because the morning weather is often clear and the wind is calm. Morning flight is considered safe for flying in the high altitude region of Nepal.

Gradual Altitude Experience:

As your helicopter starts to take off, you will feel the change in altitude. The pilot ensures a smooth transition and a comfortable flight. Although you will reach a high altitude due to the short time spent at Gosaikunda, this will minimize the risk of altitude sickness.

Unique Himalayan Perspective:

During the trek, you will enjoy ground-level views. Still, when you do a heli tour, you will enjoy views not possible on the trek, such as rare glimpses of remote settlements, glacial terrain, dramatic ridgelines, and untouched alpine landscapes.

Avoid staying at the basic Tea house:

The trekking routes of Goksaikunda Lake have a limited number of tea houses. Also, this tea house is very basic. During the peak season and festival times, such as Janai Purnima, there will be a huge number of travellers, and due to the shortage of tea houses, you might need to stay in a tent or with a large group at dining halls or wherever available. But when you choose the Gosaikunda helicopter tour, you don’t have to worry about finding rooms at a tea house.

Flexible Exploration Time:

Once the helicopter lands near Gosaikunda Lake, you can do whatever you want for about 30 minutes. You can enjoy at your own pace, quietly enjoy the scenery, do meditation, do a holy dip, or even interact with pilgrims.

Weather-Dependent Adventure:

In Nepal, most flights are weather-sensitive due to the country’s geography. When the weather is stable and the sky is clear, you can enjoy the best view. But if the weather turns bad, you need to schedule your adjustments for your own safety and for the best possible experience.

Safe and Well-Managed Operation:

From pre-flight checks to landing, we will coordinate with you every step of the way so that your entire journey is professionally managed in accordance with safety standard. High Route Adventure guarantees you a safe, comfortable, and memorable adventure when you book with us.

Gosaikunda Helicopter Tour in Janai Purnima Festival and Maha Shivaratri

According to Hindu legend, Lord Shiva created the sacred Gosaikunda Lake (4,380 m) by striking a Himalayan mountain with his trident (trishul) to cool his burning throat after drinking the Halahala poison during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan). The water from this strike formed the lake, which is considered holy by both Hindus and Buddhists.

Because of its sacred significance, Hindu pilgrims visit Gosaikunda Lake during the Janai Purnima and Maha Shivaratri festivals.

During Janai Purnima, 40,000 visitors arrived in a single day. Janai Purnima festival is celebrated in the Nepali month of Shrawan (July-August) on the full moon day, known as Shrawani Purnima or Kwati Purnima.

Maha Shivaratri is celebrated every year in the month of Phalguna (Feb–Mar) on the Chaturdashi (14th day) of Krishna Paksha (waning phase). Many visitors also choose to perform rituals in the Gosaikunda Lake during this festival.

Note: You can avoid the heavy crowds on trekking trails and reach Gosaikunda Lake in a few minutes from Kathmandu by helicopter. So, if you are planning to do a heli tour this season, due to high demand, you need to book the package in advance.
