As a photographer, I was in heaven, the light shifting over the lake at sunrise and sunset is a total dream. But beyond the lake, the trek itself is a masterclass in Himalayan geography. The trek through the Suli Gad river valley, with its rushing turquoise water and pine forests, perfectly builds the suspense for when the lake finally reveals itself. It’s a tough trek, both in distance and altitude, but the raw, brutal beauty of the Dolpo region makes it incredibly rewarding. My camera roll is full, but my memories are even better. 10/10 would go back in a heartbeat.
