“Light. That is why I came, and that is why I stayed. The light in the Gokyo Valley is unlike anything I’ve shot in the Outback or the Great Barrier Reef. The way the glacial silt reflects in the lakes creates a color palette that feels almost alien—vibrant cyans and deep teals against the stark white of the Himalayan giants. I spent three days just in Gokyo village waiting for the perfect cloud reflection on the water. For any landscape photographer, this is the Holy Grail.”
