“In Japan, we value kintsugi—the beauty in imperfection and resilience. Trekking to Gokyo Ri, I found a similar beauty in the harsh, jagged landscape. Standing at the summit of Gokyo Ri at sunrise, watching the sunlight hit the face of Everest while looking down at the deep, frozen sapphire of the lakes, I felt a silence I had never experienced before. It wasn’t just a trek; it was a meditation. If you are looking for external noise, go to Base Camp. If you are looking for your inner self, come to Gokyo.”
