During the trek, you’ll get some of the best views, cultural experiences, and trekking trails that Nepal has to offer. Special about this combined-short trek in Nepal is that you get to experience a short part of the Annapurna Himalayas. Furthermore, you’ll also get to do a short part of the Everest region’s Everest Base Camp trek. And all in one holiday with High Route Adventure!

What can you expect?

During this incredible adventurous short trek, you can expect some of the best mountain views in both the Annapurna and Everest regions of Nepal. The Annapurna + Everest view trek is specially designed to enjoy a wide variety of popular Himalayan peaks. In the Annapurna region, the top mountains to look out for are; Mt Dhaulagiri (8,167m/26,795ft) ranked as the 7th highest mountain in the world, and Mt Annapurna South (7,219m/23,684ft). The iconic Mt Machhapuchhare (Fishtail Mountain) (6,999m/22,963ft) is also there. During the short trek in the Everest region, you get a whole other variety of mountains to the lookout. Inclusive is the highest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,029ft)! The uniqueness of this special trek in Nepal lies not only in the difference between Himalayan views but also in the difference in culture. While during the short Annapurna part of the trek you’ll encounter a lot of Magar and especially Gurung people.

In the second part of the Annapurna sunrise + Everest short trek, you’ll head to the Khumbu region. Also known as the Everest region of Nepal, where the legendary Sherpas have their hometowns. A wide diversity in fauna and flora is also to be expected as you visit both regions in a single holiday. The route is a simple yet original combination of the more commonly known Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek and the Everest View Trek. High Route Adventure uses Kathmandu as a start, mid, and endpoint during the Annapurna + Everest short trek.  Everest Annapurna short trek

During the first part of the Annapurna + Everest short trek, you’ll head up to Poon Hill (3,210m/10,532ft) to catch a sunrise view over the southern Annapurna Himalayan Range. Our destination is Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,287ft), the biggest Sherpa village in the Everest region. We’ll also make a special visit to Khumjung where it is said you can see a real Yeti skull!

    Traveler’s note: The airport is just a few minutes away from Thamel, the main touristic area of Kathmandu, where most of the hotels, souvenir shops, and restaurants are located. Try out the Nepalese MoMo, a traditional dumpling and a staple of Nepalese Cuisine!

    Traveler’s note: Did you know that the route to Pokhara is mostly along the Trishuli River? Along the way, you can see the famous Manakamana Temple up high connected by cable cars. Once you arrive at Pokhara lookout for the iconic Mt Machhapuchhare (Fishtail Mountain) (6,999m/22,963ft), who can see it first? Pokhara has a wide selection of different restaurants spread around the banks of Phewa Lake.

  • Day 03: Drive to Nayapul + trek to Tikhedhunga

    • Pick up and drive to Nayapul
    • Arrive at Nayapul for TIMS check
    • Start to trek to Birethanti
    • Continue upwards towards Tikhedhungga
    • Dinner and stay overnight in the teahouse

  • Day 04: Trek to Ghorepani

    • Breakfast and departure
    • Head upon the stone stairs of Ulleri
    • The trail leads through a pleasant rhododendron forest
    • After passing a small hut, providing water we head further following a stream
    • A little bit more up lies Ghorepani
    • Dinner and overnight stay in the teahouse

    Traveler’s note: Did you know that from Bhantathi village you’ll enter one of the largest rhododendron forests of Nepal. It’s highly recommended by High Route Adventure to book this trek during the spring season, as then the flowers will be in full bloom transforming the entire valley into a colorful picture.

  • Day 05: Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210m/10,532ft) + trek to Tadapani

    • Early wake up, about 4 AM
    • Hike up to Poon Hill
    • Enjoy the amazing sunrise over the Annapurna Mountains
    • Hike back down to Ghorepani for breakfast and departure
    • Start ascending until reaching the top of the hill at Deurali
    • The trail leads up and down until reaching Tadapani Village
    • Dinner and overnight stay in the teahouse

    Traveler’s note: Did you know that from Poon Hill you can see some of the best views of, from right to left the Manaslu Massif, Annapurna Massif, and the Dhaulagiri Range. You can enjoy the sunrise with a nice hot cup of coffee or tea available at the kiosk.

  • Day 06: Trek back to Nayapul + drive back to Pokhara

    Traveler’s note: Did you know that in Ghandruk the biggest Gurung village of the area, you can visit a local Gurung museum.

  • Day 08: Fly to Lukla + trek to Phakding

    • Head along the Dudh Koshi River
    • Cross the River to reach Phakding village

    Traveler’s note: Did you know that Lukla airport is the world’s 38th highest airport! The Dudh Khosi River meaning the Milk-Khosi River got its name due to its white water, and is one of the highest rivers in terms of elevation!

  • Day 09: Trek to Namche Bazaar

    • Breakfast and departure
    • Continue along the Dudh Koshi River
    • Crossing a few times River, until reaching Monjo
    • Checking of all permits
    • Continue on mostly ascending towards Namche Bazaar
    • Dinner and overnight stay in the teahouse

    Traveler’s note: Did you know that from Monjo you’ll officially enter the Sagarmatha National Park? Before reaching Namche Bazaar a long suspension bridge needs to be crossed, that gives amazing views. On clear days you can get your first glimpses of Mt. Everest at the Nuptse-Lhotse Ridge!

  • Day 10: Hike to Everest View Hotel + visit the Khumjung Village, monastery, & Hillary School

    • Hike further to Khumjung, to visit the Khumjung Monastery
    • Explore around Namche Bazaar

    Traveler’s note: Did you know that Namche Bazaar is the last big village we’ll encounter during the trek? Namche Bazaar is filled with restaurants, souvenir shops, pharmacies, and even a Sherpa Museum. Do try out the German Bakery! If you opt for the Khumjung hike, at the monastery you can see a real Yeti skull!

  • Day 11: Trek to the Tengboche Monastery

    • Make your way towards Khumjung
    • Follow the trail north to Tengboche

    Traveler’s note: Did you know the Tengboche Monastery is the biggest monastery of the entire Khumbu/Everest region. You’ll get to see incredible architecture and Buddhist culture while visiting the Tengboche Monastery!

  • Day 12: Trek to Monjo

    Traveler’s note: Did you know that while most of the trek is now descending, it can still be strenuous, so always make sure to go at a slow and comfortable pace!

    Yes you can combine any type of trek with High Route Adventure, just click on customize or tailor-made treks to get started or request us via the quick inquire form! Do note that combining treks can add to the number of days you’ll have to travel in Nepal, and the type of permits you’ll need.
  • What is the highest point during the Annapurna + Everest short trek?

    The Tengboche Monastery at a height of 3,860m/12,664ft, is the highest point during the Annapurna + Everest short trek. The views from Tengboche are incredible and you can see a lot of those popular Himalayan Mountains.
  • How should my fitness level be in order to complete the Annapurna + Everest short trek?

    As the Annapurna + Everest short trek is a combination of two treks in two separate regions, you’ll have to have a good fitness level in order to fully enjoy this trek. High Route Adventure highly recommends to do at least a 1 month pre-departure fitness training by either gym fitness or outdoor exercises.
  • How much additional money do I need per day during this trek?

    As there are no ATM machines up high in the Himalayas, you’ll need to bring some additional money during the trek, in order to buy some extra’s such as snacks, drinks, souvenirs, etc. For the combination of this trek, it’s recommended to bring about 15USD per day extra.
  • Should I give tips to guide, porter and driver after the trek?

    While it is not compulsory to give tips it is customary, and tipping is also one of the main sources of income for guides, porters, waiters, hotel staff or drivers. Usually at the end of the trek, we provide tips to the guides and porters to thank them for their extra ordinary service in the Himalayas. It is also a great way to show your satisfaction with their services. While tips are an individual thing, it is customary if trekking in group to collect a tip pot for the service of porters and guides at the end of the trek, before returning back to Kathmandu.
