Premium service during the luxury Everest Base Camp helps you to ease the trekking journey, but still, there are some challenges that you need to face while you are on a trek. Trekking in the high-altitude Himalayas of Nepal is not an easy task. Even though there are challenges it is manageable when you prepare early and with the guidance of High Route Adventure.
Let’s see the factors that add challenge and preparation tips:
On this luxury Everest base camp trek, your trekking journey starts from the Lukla airport, whose altitude is 2.846 m, and reaches the Kala Patthar, which stands at 5,545 meters (18,192 ft). Trekking at such a high altitude to reach Kala Patthar sometimes might be difficult due to low oxygen levels in the air. This altitude effect can cause the symptoms of altitude sickness(AMS) like Headaches, Nausea, Difficulty sleeping and Shortness of breath.
These early symptoms of AMS can be cured in the early stage. But when it turns into an advanced form of High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) and High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE), it can be dangerous. So we take necessary precautions at an early stage to avoid dangerous situations.
Pro Tip:
Another challenge that trekkers need to face during the luxurious Everest base camp trek is the demand for physical fitness. Trekkers need to walk for 5-6 hours daily at high altitude in difficult terrain. Those who are not used to walking on steep hills and down hills and on narrow paths will find it extremely challenging.
Pro Tip:
Generally, the best time for the luxury Everest Base Camp trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. But sometimes everything does not go as planned, even during this best time, due to sudden changes in the weather conditions.
Unpredictable weather can turn the journey tough, as rain or heavy snowfall makes the trails slippery and the temperatures less comfortable for trekking.
