This trek takes you to Nagarkot, one of the most popular hill stations near Kathmandu, famous for its panoramic sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas. On clear days, you can see a stunning range from Mount Everest to the Annapurnas. Along the way, you will pass through lush forests, traditional villages, and terraced fields, enjoying a peaceful contrast to the city’s bustle.

Starting the Chisapani Nagarkot Trek

Your journey begins with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, a serene village just 15 kilometers northeast of the capital. Sundarijal, meaning “beautiful water” in Nepali, is known for its pristine streams, waterfalls, and the revered Sundarimai Temple. The trek enters Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, home to over 170 species of birds, rare orchids, colorful butterflies, and refreshing woodland trails.

From here, you hike to Chisapani, a tranquil vantage point with wide-open views of the snow-capped peaks and the Kathmandu Valley. The fresh mountain air, green hills, and Himalayan backdrop create a picture-perfect trekking experience.

From Chisapani to Nagarkot

The trek continues through rolling hills and charming Tamang villages, where you can experience warm hospitality and learn about local traditions. Eventually, you reach Nagarkot, the highlight of the trip, offering one of the best Himalayan panoramas in Nepal. Here, the sunrise and sunset views are simply magical, casting golden hues over peaks like Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gaurishankar, and even Everest on clear days.

Before concluding your trek, you visit the Changunarayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Nepal’s oldest temples. Located on a hilltop near Bhaktapur, it showcases exquisite wood carvings, stone sculptures, and ancient legends.
