On Route Namche Bazaar, Top of Namche Bazaar Sagarmatha National Park Headquarter and Everest View Hotel.

The trek to Namche Bazaar starts from Lukla at 2,820 m after a short scenic flight from Kathmandu. Lukla is a gateway town for various adventure destinations around the high Khumbu and Everest region, where most treks start and end.

An enjoyable walk through nice cultural Sherpa villages steeped with interesting Buddhist religious monuments, following the glacial Dudh Kosi River. 

The first overnight stop in Phakding, at a height of 2,640 m high located on a gorge of Dudh Kosi River. From Phakding walk takes you further high to Namche Bazaar, which starts with a lovely gradual walk for the first half. 

The walk continues to Monjo village and then enters Sagarmatha National Park, designated as a World Heritage Site.

As well one of the world’s highest national parks with an area of 1,148 sq. km, with the highest peak Mt. Sagarmatha / Everest. Includes well-known peaks Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyo, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Thermasarkhu, Kwangde, Khangtiaga, and Gyachung Kang. Trek follows the river past the last Jorsalle village and then the climb begins after crossing the last bridge to Namche Bazaar.

On the walk to Namche enjoy the first view of Mt. Everest if the day is fine and clear, especially morning time. The right spot for an excellent view of Mt. Everest is an hour before Namche Bazaar. Enjoy a refreshing rest at a place called Thoop Danda, after a tough climb from the river valley below. A nice scenic place and a popular rest spot for trekkers going up or downhill, as it offers excellent views.

From Thoop Danda at about 3, 170 m high, enjoy grand views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse in the north. Includes views of Kongde towards the south, with Thermasarkhu and Kusum-Kanguru in the east direction.

After enjoying the views on a clear day, an hour or more reach you at Namche Bazaar. Where all houses serve as lodges, and hotels are placed in an amphitheater position, Namche Bazaar famous and popular town village among trekkers.  

Normally all trekkers spend an extra day in Namche Bazaar at 3,440 m for acclimatization before heading further north.

At Namche Bazaar perspective Everest viewpoints, walk uphill for half an hour to the top ridge near Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters. 

Enjoy a grand panorama of Mt. Everest with the adjoining snow mountain range, which includes a bird s-eye view of Namche Bazaar. Spend the morning with glorious scenery and visit the park museum nearby an interesting place to gain knowledge of the Everest region.

The next place for super views of Everest is from Everest View Hotel, an hour or more climb to Syangboche. Which has an old small airstrip, built to charter planes for customers of Everest View Hotel in the early days. From Syangboche airfield 45 45-minute gradual uphill walk to the entrance of the hotel established in early 1971.

Everest View Hotel was listed on the Guinness Book of World Records in 2004, as the world’s highest hotel at 3,880 m high. Enjoy an excellent view of Mt. Everest as you enjoy a warm cup of tea/coffee and other refreshments. 

From Everest View Hotel one can spend overnight or retrace back to Namche Bazaar, an optional walk to Khumjung and Khunde villages.

Tengboche Monastery for Everest Panorama:

A lovely scenic walk from Namche Bazaar, the route leads on a gradual winding trail facing exceptional scenery with Everest in view. After a pleasant morning trek, the afternoon walk leads to climbing for a few hours within nice woods to reach the beautiful place of Tengboche.

The first sight upon reaching Tengboche is a colorful monastery facing views of majestic Ama Dablam and Mt. Everest. Enjoy the time of your life in this spectacular scenic spot surrounded by lovely forests and Snow Mountains.

Tengboche is one of the highlights of the Everest base camp trek and other most popular treks for trekkers with limited holidays, the whole trip of a week duration.

At Tengboche with time to visit its fascinating monastery interior where once a year a religious event takes place. The festival is called Mani-Rimdu in October or early November as per the Buddhism Lunar calendar.

Tengboche is a lovely scenic spot to witness local Sherpa and Buddhist culture at the height of 3,867 m. After views of Everest panorama return journey on the same way back to Lukla or carry on to Kalapathar Hill.    

Kalapathar Hill Top Closest View-Point of Everest: 

The most exciting place to view Mt. Everest at a close distance is Kalapathar Hill Top. The highest spot at 5,644 m / 18, 517 feet, the new height has been revised from the previous 5,545 m. 

To reach Kalapathar Hill-top, a walk starts from Lukla to Namche Bazaar after spending a few days in Namche continue the trek to Tengboche. After enjoying views of Everest and the range of peaks at Tengboche, the walk follows to a higher barren country.   

 Spending overnights in Dingboche or Pheriche and Lobuche, the trek continues towards a high trail through glaciers and moraine to reach Gorakshep.

Gorakshep at 5, 180 m, located at the base of Kalapathar hill as well on route to Everest base camp. The best time to reach Kalapathar hilltop for the best views is early morning, as it gets very windy in the afternoon time.

Optional walk in the afternoon to Everest base camp, although not the best for a view of Mt. Everest. However, one can enjoy the hike and be at the base of the world’s number one Mt. Everest. 

Next, early morning, climb for a few hours to reach Kalapathar Hill at the highest point of the adventure. Enjoy glorious views of giant snow-capped mountains that encircle you and face the closest look of Mt. Everest.

After a great enjoyable moment with stunning views of Mt. Everest at stone’s throw distance return journey to Lukla.

Besides excellent views of Mt. Everest from Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Kalapathar, other great viewpoints are around Gokyo Valley.

From Namche Bazaar having acclimatization days with short walks around its best view-points, start the adventure to Gokyo Valley.

Trek leads on the main scenic trail for a few hours, as the route diverts from the major path. Then climb an hour or more to Mong Hill, facing grand views of snow peaks with Mt. Everest. The walk continues down to Dudh Kosi River gorge, following the quiet trail on a less busy route to Gokyo Valley. As climb leads past Dole, Machhermo then to beautiful scenic Gokyo Valley with glacial lovely lakes.   

At Gokyo enjoy grand views of Mt. Cho-Oyo world 6th highest, with other adjoining peaks in the comfort of a nice lodge.

Next early morning, a steep climb of more than two hours to reach Gokyo-Ri at 5,367 m. The view top offers a stunning panorama of the world’s highest mountain range from Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Mt. Cho-Oyo to Mt. Makalu.

The view includes the whole of Gokyo valley, the lakes with Nepal Himalayas’ longest Ngozumba glacier after an exciting moment descend to Gokyo. 

While at Gokyo, the next best place for the closest views of Mt. Everest beside Gokyo-Ri is a hike to Gokyo 5th Lake. Start the walk early in the morning with a packed lunch as it is a long day of more than 6 hours of walks both ways. Hike towards the north-west following the Ngozumba glacier and moraine all the way to 
Gokyo 5th Lake at nearly 5,100 m.

The Gokyo 5th Lake, is located near the Mt. Cho-Oyu base camp on the border between Nepal and Tibet. Enjoy full grand views of Mt. Everest with the south and north col with other adjoining peaks. After a glorious and tough day hike return to Gokyo for an overnight and onward journey back to Lukla.

Trek to Renjo-la pass at 5,340 m high, another exciting viewpoint within the Gokyo area. From Gokyo start an early morning walk past the Gokyo main lake and then a steep climb of a few hours. On reaching Renjo-La pass top, enjoy the spectacular panorama of giant snow-capped peaks with majestic Mt. Everest.

After a mind-blowing view of the world’s four highest Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, and Makalu head down towards Thame village and then back to Lukla.

A highly technical peak to reach its summit, Lobuche East Peak stands along with its adjoining Lobuche West. Lobuche East Peak at the height of 6,119 m and 20,192 feet high, located west of Mt. Everest. Close distance of 6 hours or more from Mt. Everest base camp, although a tough technical peak to climb. But one of the most exciting peaks with only a few days of camping required, after spending overnights in local nice lodges.

Located above scenic Manang Valley at a height above 6,091 m / 19,984 feet high. North of Annapurna Himalaya, rises on its own close to Chulu’s range of peaks bulky and dome-shaped peaks. Where route diverts from Pisang village and then walking to a high ridge above Manang Valley. A great climb requires tented camping for few days, after staying in lodges on treks till Pisang. Chulu East Peak:

Towers high at 6,584 m / 21,596 feet above Manang valley within its adjoining Chulu West, Far East, and Mid Chulu. Nepal’s highest trekking peaks are close to Pisang Peak as well, where the walk takes you to remote pockets of Manang. To reach its base camp for the classic climb, a straight-forward peak to climb with some technical section to cope. From the top offers spectacular views of the surrounding High Mountain range, and then carry on to reach your final destination. Walking on the popular scenic trail of Annapurna Circuit.

Tent Peak Climbing: 

Tent Peak is also known as Tharpu Chuli, is located within the famous and picturesque Annapurna Sanctuary, at the height of 5,663 m / 18,575 feet high. Although the peak is below 6, 000 m, but a highly technical climb, where basic knowledge of rock and ice climbing is required. Most of the climb leads on rocky vertical cleft with icy sections, a challenging peak to climb and worth the huge effort. Tent Peak is nearest to Anapurna Base camp.

Mardi Himal:

Mardi Himal, a lesser 6, 000 m peak at the height of 5,587 m and 18, 325 feet high. Located just on the southern flank of majestic Machhapuchare Himal the Fish Tail peak, within Annapurna Himalaya range. Mardi Himal with two routes from eastern sides on off the beaten tracks to reach the south-east face. The other common trekking route from the South-West on mostly trekked trails, where camping is required only for few days during the climb.

A tough peak full of rocky edge with ice and some snow, although a smaller peak but leads to some technical know-how. Best for beginners as practice climb, rewards with amazing panorama of whole Annapurna Himalaya with Manaslu and Dhaulagiri Mountain range. 

Famous and Much Popular Trekking Peaks Around Langtang Himal Range: 

Yala Peak:

Yala peak, located amidst the higher side of beautiful Langtang Valley enclosed by an array of Central Himalaya and Langtang Himal group of peaks. Yala Peak, a popular and famous trekking peak which is at the height of 5, 732 m and 18, 800 feet high. A perfect mountain for beginners as an introduction to climb Himalayan peaks, a non-technical peak to reach its summit top.  

But requires safety measures, climb leads on snow and icy slopes where fixed ropes requires for safe and successful climb.

Mount Kanchenjunga, located in Nepal Far East within the Great Himalayan range at about 125 km and 78 miles further east of Mt. Everest.

The massive bulk of Kanchenjunga also straddles the border between Nepal and Sikkim (a small North East state of India).

However, the most prominent location of Mt. Kanchenjunga falls within Nepal while the southeastern face belongs to Sikkim-India.

The mountain was first conquered by the late George Band, Norman Hardie and

 S, Streather with British Expedition in May 25th 1955, which was climbed from Nepal south base camp of Kanchenjunga.

Kanchenjunga a massive bulk of a mountain with the main five peaks adjoin by other satellite lesser peaks, actually the name pronounced and spelled ‘Kanchendzonga’ from Tibetan language.

The main five peaks resemble jewels or elements Gold, Silver, precious stones, grain, and Holy Scriptures.   

Mt. Kanchenjunga and its scenic area falls within the Latitude of 27.7025 and Longitude 88.1475 with 27°4256’ N and 87°55’42 due East, and it covers an area of 20,35 km2 (786 sq miles) in the district of Taplejung and Mechi State / Zone.

Mt. Kanchenjunga offers a great range of adventure, and the longest duration trek of more than three weeks, visiting both North and south base camps.

One of the most beautiful adventures around Kanchenjunga, where trekkers can enjoy exciting walks through dense deep forest, lined with tall rhododendron and pine trees to reach remorseless fields of ice and glaciers at Kanchenjunga base camps.

Overview:

Mt. Lhotse at 8, 516 m and 27, 940 feet high stands as the world’s fourth-highest peak, the closest adjoining mountain with Mt. Everest, located in the Khumbu region of Nepal mid-eastern Himalaya range.

The mountain was first scaled on May 18, 1956, by a Swiss Expedition climbed by

 F. Luchsinger and E. Reiss, since then till present many mountaineers have reached the top of Mt. Lhotse.

The route to the summit of Mt. Lhotse is almost the same as Mt. Everest, and from South Col and Camp III, which is halfway up the Lhotse Face at about 7,400 meters high.

The other route is from higher Imjatse valley, the toughest and more technical than the other North East side, very few mountaineers takes the challenge from the southern route.

Mt. Lhotse a group of jagged peaks, when viewed from Dingboche and Chukung around Imjatse valley.

The mountain lies at Latitude: 27° 57′ 25.19″ North and Longitude: 86° 55′ 59.99″ East, located within high Khumbu valley which can be clearly seen on walks towards its base camp or from the plane.

The name Lhotse comes from the Tibetan and Sherpa language meaning South Peak, which on the southeast from Mt. Everest with its other satellite peaks likewise Lhotse Shar.

Trek to Mt. Lhotse is on the same trail as Mt. Everest, depending upon one interest to reach its base camp, either from South West or from Southside of the mountain which is above scenic and beautiful Imjatse Valley.

As it is located within Khumbu and Everest area, where trekkers and mountaineers can visit other exciting and wonderful destinations like Gokyo valley, crossing Cho-La pass to reach its base camp.

MT. CHO-OYU

Overview:

Mt. Cho-Oyu is listed as the world’s 6th tallest peak that straddles the border of Nepal and Tibet / China. Mt. Cho-Oyu rises high above 8, 201 m and 29, 906 feet one of popular mountain for mountaineers.

Mt. Cho-Oyu first ascent in October 19th 1954 by Austrian Expedition supported by Nepalese expert climber Sherpa Pasang Dawa Lama.

Most of the climb to Mt. Cho-Oyu is done from southeast Tibet across the border, for easy access to reach the summit top than from Khumbu, Nepal side.

Mt. Cho-Oyu is located west of Mt. Everest at a mere distance of 20 km at Latitude 28.0960° North and Longitude 86.6615° towards East.

The name Cho-Oyu translates as “Turquoise Goddess” in Tibetan as well in the Sherpa language of Tibetan origin. 

The mountain lies within the westernmost major peak of the Khumbu sub-section of the Mahalangur Himalaya and close to Gyachung Khang, the highest 7,000 m peak.

The area around Cho-Oyu in Nepal falls within the higher side of Khumbu towards further North of Gokyo 5th lakes. Mt. Cho-Oyu base camp is rarely visited by trekkers besides a few mountaineering expeditions due to its remote location.

From Tibet one can easily drive to the base camp of Mt. Cho-Oyu where the route leads past the main highway heading towards the southeast, one can catch awesome views of Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Everest, and Mt. Shisapangma on the drive-in Tibet. 

Mt. Cho-Oyu, which is also close to Nangpa-La a high pass that borders Tibet and Khumbu, Nepal where Tibetan still cross to Namche Bazaar on the Nepal side at Khumbu for trade.

MT. DHAULAGIRI

Overview:

Mt. Dhaulagiri, a massive mountain range located within Nepal Mid and Far West Himalaya, one of the few 8, 000 meters peaks situated wholly in Nepal.

Mt. Dhaulagiri stands as the world’s seventh-highest peak at the height of 8, 167 m and 26, 795 feet high, first conquest of Mt. Dhaulagiri in May 13th 1960 by Swiss and Austrian Expedition with support of Nepalese Sherpa guide Nima and Nawang Dorji. 

Mt. Dhaulagiri can be seen clearly from Pokhara’s view-point hills towards the far western direction, situated west from the Annapurna Himalaya Mountain range.

Mt. Dhaulagiri with its group of peaks, namely Dhaulagiri-I, II, III, and IV with Gurja Himal, Mani-Pathi.

Mt. Dhaulagiri the highest peak within Nepal, which does not touch with any other country which is wholly in Nepal.

The word Dhaula comes from ancient Sanskrit meaning a dazzling white and Giri as mountain or peaks, situated on Latitude: 28° 41′ 28.19″ North and Longitude: 83° 29′ 25.79″ East.

Mt. Dhaulagiri a massive mountain range that extends 120 km from the Kaligandaki River west to the Bheri that touches the boundary with the Dolpo area. 

This massif is bounded on the north and southwest by tributaries of the Bheri River and on the southeast by the Mygdi Khola continues towards Kaligandaki River in the east.  

Mt. Dhaulagiri towers high on the opposite side of Mt. Annapurna to form the world’s deepest gorge of the Kaligandaki River.

Mt. Dhaulagiri since it was climbed in early 1960, where mountaineering expedition is still popular on high climbing season.

There are two main routes to reach its base camp at 4, 750 m high one from Marpha with climb over Thapa and Dhampus Pass to Hidden Valley and crossing high French Pass at above 5,360 m to reach its base camp.

The other routes from Beni town and Darbang, and trekking for a week to reach at base camp.

MT. MANASLU

Mt. Manaslu ranked as the world’s eighth highest mountain, which is solely within Nepal. Located around Nepal North Mid-West Himalaya range close to Annapurna in the west with massive Ganesh Himal towards east.

The local native of Manaslu call as Kutung in Tibetan origin language which means a paradise. Mt. Manaslu coordinates at Latitude 8.5497° N and Longitude 84.5597° E.

Mt. Manaslu is clearly seen on route and as well from the famous touristic city Pokhara with its massive range of peaks. 

Located within high areas of Gorkha district of Mid-West Nepal around Mansiri Himal range, also extends towards Lamjung and Manang districts.

Mt. Manaslu, getting more popular and attention since the last few decades, the upper and high Manaslu falls within a restricted area, due to its closeness with the Tibet frontier which is further due north.

Adventure to Mt. Manaslu offers great variation from low sub-tropic paddy fields towards cooler Himalayan hills covered with dense beautiful rhododendron and pine forest and then at arctic zone of remorseless fields of ice and glaciers.
